Marveling at the magic of Narnia, empathizing with the character Thomas Covenant, from Lord Foul’s Bane, weeping actual tears when Gollum takes Frodo’s finger and plummets into the magma of Mount Doom, feeling a kinship with Ponyboy from the Outsiders. All these experiences and more that seem as real to me as life itself, helped shape who I am. When I was a teacher, my favorite part of the day (and my student’s) was read aloud. Sharing my love of plot, theme, conflict, character and just plain story gave me so much joy. So now, I share story with the world. Whether it be straight narration, finding the best way to communicate factual information, commercial reads, where “finding the story” in the copy makes it believable, or playing characters.
